Our Annual Light Night

This Fall we approached the "one year anniversary" of things that we do together and have started to create annual traditions. The other night we realized we both have a hard time remembering life without each other. Sometimes I start telling a story with the line - "remember when....." only to realize he couldn't remember when because he wasn't a part of my life when the story happened. It's a strange and yet comforting feeling to be a part of something so wonderful that you find yourself not wanting memories without your other half.

Last weekend was our year anniversary of going to Salt Lake to do a session at the temple and to see the lights on Temple Square. We decided that as long as we are in Utah we will make this into our Annual Light Night. Work has consumed us both lately so we set aside an entire Saturday to spend together.

We started our date day at The Utah Olympic Oval for some ice skating. It's been years since either of us have set our feet on ice but after one slow lap we were able to pick up the pace. As you can see from the pictures below we basically were doing triple axles and toe touch loops and other fancy things. Oh and Garlan is pretty sure he broke the Olympic speed skating record. Whether or not did, he looks good trying.

From the rink we headed to our favorite place on earth - the temple. We actually haven't done a session in the Salt Lake Temple since we got married. It brought back a flood of wonderful memories for the both of us. When we came out of the temple it was dark and the lights were on. It was like stepping out into a Winter Wonderland full of people and people and people. haha. We walked around for awhile, took some pictures, stole some kisses and even found our perfect Christmas tree in the Joseph Smith Building - although I doubt we'll ever have a house big enough for that giant tree.

Following the lights our stomachs took control of the wheel and we headed to a delicious Indian restaurant downtown. The food was great but Garlan made sure to tell me that he still loves my curry the best.

Thank you Garlan for starting each day with me as an adventure only to end it as a wonderful memory! I love you always and forever.
