Best 4th of July ever! We started talking about doing something as a family (those that could) in June. The boys really wanted to do Zions National Park. I admit I was leary about the time of year and crowds. But we booked some camping sites and then my mom scored a sweet deal on a hotel near our campground. It turned out to be the best vacation. The hotel had several pools that were empty most of the time and one was literally right outside their room back door.
We all got there at different times on the 3rd. Swam and played at the hotel and did a BBQ outside.
On the 4th we got up and hiked the trail to the start of the narrows. It was a couple miles round trip and was about all the kids could handle. Then we went back to the hotel to swim and hang out.
The next morning the guys got up early and hiked Angel's Landing. We did more swimming and then all did an evening hike later that day to Emerald Pools. We basically did everything we could to avoid hiking in the heat and staying away from most of the crowds.
The last day was mostly just swimming and more eating. It was the perfect mixture of relaxing and getting out in nature.
