Christmas Celebrations 2015!

We had a very eventful December full of football, family, food and miles upon miles on the road and in the car. Though it was a lot of fun we have decided next year we will stay at home for the entire time to rest and relax.

At the beginning of the month we had our Annual Cousin Holiday Party at Julie's house. Almost everyone made it - a couple cousins and families were missing due to flu, croup and pink eye. It was so fun to visit and catch up and of course spend time with G-ma and G-pa.

We started our Christmas journeys by heading to Las Vegas a few days before the bowl game between BYU and Utah to spend time with our Vegas family. The girls had a blast playing with their cousins and I loved spending time with my sister in laws. The night before the game Garlan and a bunch of my family showed up and were able to crash at various McCoy homes. Sadly BYU had a horrible first 6 minutes of the game and even though they outplayed Utah the rest of the time they lost by a touchdown. :(

From Vegas we all headed down to Arizona for Matt and Chloe's wedding. It was a beautiful wedding but a little chillier than we thought it would be. The night before the wedding we had a casual dinner/gathering with Chloe's dad's side of the family. It was nice to get to know her extended family better. After the wedding we had a little down time before they held a ring ceremony for Chloe's mom's side of the family. It was really nice and the reception was gorgeous with lots of delicious foods. The little girls danced and danced and danced until it was time to put them to bed.

From AZ we caravaned up to Monticello to spend a few nights with Bill and Lynda's family. After gathering up a bunch of snow gear (we didn't pack for all the snow) we went to Canyonlands on Christmas Eve day and hiked around on the beautiful red rock. The girls were in heaven despite it being cold. After hiking we built a fire in a really cool cave that their family visits every year and Bill read the story of the Savior's birth while the younger kids reenacted it. It was really tender to see how Emma (Mary), Brooks (Joseph) and Hadley (Angel) treated the baby doll that represented Jesus. Before we started the whole thing they sat in their costumes and held, rocked, kissed and sang to the baby. It was as if they understood the significance of what the doll represented.

Christmas Day we packed up and started home ahead of another big snow storm. The roads weren't perfect but we all made it home safe and sound. We took the girls over to the Jeff's as soon as we got home so we could unload and set up what Santa brought for everyone. We told the girls that we had forgot to tell Santa where we would be so he left everything at our house. They were super excited and loved all their gifts. It was just really nice to be home after 23+ hours on the road!

Saturday the girls and G relaxed while I went to work. Sunday after church we gathered at Michelle's house and ate our breakfast burrito dinner and opened all our gifts from each other and Mom and Dad. I wish I had videoed the reactions from all the kids when opening their presents - priceless! Monday night we had dinner with Brian and Janet to complete the belated but wonderful Christmas celebrations.

Mostly this Christmas reminded us how lucky we are to have such wonderful family and friends that love and support all of us. Now on to 2016!
